Even though well over half a century has passed since the Holocaust and the camp was freed by Soviet troops, the chilling atmosphere still remains at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp in Poland.
Erected in 1940, and freed 5 years later in 1945, this is now maintained as a World Heritage site. It’s heartbreaking that such a place was used to cause the death of so many innocent jews, who lost their lives due to persecution of a religious belief.
